During the coming year our Committee will be furthering its objectives of endeavouring to meet the needs and desires of our community here in Windermere. That community, although similar to many others around the country, relies very heavily on its tourism industry to provide a sustainable economy.

The committee will be particularly concentrating on determining needs which can be addressed by our members either through raising funds to provide facilities or events or through giving their time to enhance or support the lives and interests of, in particular, the elderly folk of the town.

In particular, The Institute of Cancer Research will be supported as this year's deserving National Charity and Events which have been very successful in past years will be held this year.

There will be a Gardener's Question Time in similar format to last year and a Concert with The Westmorland Youth Orchestra to be held at the Lakes School. The Annual Carols Evening will be held again at the Hydro Hotel on the Sunday before Christmas and we hope that you will support these events which are always very popular.

We would like to draw your attention to two major events which we are undertaking in 2008 as well as our AIRSHOW.

The first is for all our golfing friends.
Our 2008 Am/AM is to take place on Friday July 18th. Always a very well subscribed event, you can now download our entry form and other useful information including a poster by going to GOLF AM/AM 2008. An early entry assures your team of a place.

The second is a brand new event and is for anyone, of any age, who enjoys a walk. We are organising a Charity Walk in the footsteps of Alfred Wainwright - there will be a choice of distances of 3, 5 or 10 miles so there is one for everyone. Because this is a major walking event we have a dedicated website for it which you can access at OUR WALK
