The 2008 Windermere Rotary Golf AM-AM
Friday July 18th
Our AM/AM in 2008 is now underway and you can obtain details here and you can also download a .pdf file of our poster and the entry form for your team.
Dear Rotary and Golfing Colleagues,
Following our successful AM-AM’s in recent years, which have allowed us to donate over £31,700 to good causes, we are again fortunate to have the use of Windermere Golf Club this July.
For over 60 years The Rotary Club of Windermere has played a vital role in the communities of Windermere, Bowness and the South Lakes Area by supporting very many good causes, charitable organisations and community projects. We have also been able to support many projects and appeals for help in third world countries.
We wish to continue this good work with your help, so we are organising a Golf AM-AM at Windermere Golf Club on Friday July 18th 2008 and invite you to support us by either entering a team at £150 and or assisting with sponsorship for a hole at £50 each where you would also be welcome to display your advertising banner.
Enclosed is a publicity poster and entry form, we hope we can look forward to your support on what we are sure will again be a memorable day for the Rotary Club of Windermere and all participants. The proceeds from the event will enable The Club to support in particular Work in Fighting Prostate Cancer and Alzheimer’s in Cumbria as well as being able to continue our good work both overseas and in the local community.
Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact the organiser.
Kind regards
Rob McGraw
President
Entries and Sponsorship money to the organiser: Rtn John A Tiscornia
We look forward to welcoming you to Windermere Golf Club and although we cannot guarantee sunshine, we can guarantee fellowship, fun and fine competition for fabulous prizes.
See you on 18th July! Meanwhile here is what happened in 2007-
Our club was once again delighted at the response to this year's Annual
AM-AM competition which was held at Windermere Golf Club once again.
Both ladies and men's teams competed for a range of excellent
prizes, which were presented by our Club President after dinner
in the evening. We are also grateful to our sponsors,
supporters and others for their valuable help and particularly to those
who took part.
The club is indebted to Past President John Tiscornia who almost single handedly organises this very prestigious and rewarding occasion in our Annual Events calendar.
As well as providing a day of great enjoyment and the opportunity to win some excellent prizes, we are raising funds to support Life Education Cumbria and the Starlight Children's Foundation in Cumbria. So your day of golf and fun has helped children in our County too.
We can promise that we will do our best
to give you a wonderful time at Windermere. If you are unfamiliar with
the course, please look at the Windermere
Golf Club Website.
The
day, sadly, was
very wet and miserable, particularly in the afternoon - 41 Teams of stalwart
golfers from near and far ignored the weather and teed off from early morning
to late afternoon. Sadly, many were really defeated by the weather but
everyone declared that they had enjoyed themselves. We are very grateful
to all those who entered and have helped us to make good donations to the
two nominated Charities - Life Education Cumbria and the Starlight Children's
Foundation.
The winners were The Butchers with 118 points, followed by The Bandits with
114 points. Third were Demels Picklers, captained by our own John Tiscornia
with 112 points and fourth were The Ambleside Four with 110 points.
