The Rotary Club of Windermere in the Heart of the English Lake District

   Welcome to our website

President Rob McGraw   From our President Rob McGraw

July 1st brings in the New Rotary Year and new challenges for all Rotary clubs throughout the world.
All clubs say thank you and well done to their retiring President and their team of officers and committee leaders whilst at the same time welcoming a new President and his or her team.

Installing RobRob and PP BillRob was inducted by retiring President Bill McCormack who, in his valedictory address told us how much he had enjoyed his year as President and told us what a wonderful (?) bunch of friendly and helpful people we are. We all agreed wholeheartedly with his sentiments. Bill complimented the club's committees and officers on their successes during the year.

We the members of Windermere Rotary Club are welcoming President Rob McGraw to the office and we wish him every success and a year of fulfilment and enjoyment as he tries his best to keep us all in order. Through the vehicle of our Annual Assembly last week, he has outlined his goals for the year and we shall endeavour to help him achieve them. Undoubtedly Rob's first chance to show us his mettle will come with our AIRSHOW for which he has been our committee chairman over the past twelve months. He will also, before then, be spearheading our famed Annual AM/AM at Windermere Golf Club on Friday 18th July.

Our members hope that you may find something in our website pages to interest you. We are always very happy to welcome your involvement in our activities and events such as the AIRSHOW to be held in July. This coming year we shall have new events and well tried and tested ones too.  Although we are not specifically a fund raising club we do support charities both locally and internationally and some of our events are aimed specifically at their needs. We would also encourage you to talk to us if you feel that membership of our club could be something you might welcome and enjoy.

We do hope to see THE RED ARROWS at the WINDERMERE AIRSHOW 2008. We are hoping that they will do a fly past on Sunday and we are putting together a programme of really excellent air and ground attractions for your enjoyment. We are very grateful for the support of our business sponsors. Our main sponsor, Lakeland Limited would be very pleased to see or hear from you at their Windermere Store or through their website. So if you are looking for accommodation, somewhere to eat, enjoy a drink or buy yourself that Lakeland present do please visit our sponsors - you can find them all here.

But what is Rotary and who are Rotarians?

Rotary International is a world wide organisation of clubs whose members are all of like mind in their desire to serve their fellow human beings and to do all they can to relieve some of the problems which people have throughout the world. Rotarians are the members of Rotary clubs - they are male or female, no age, colour, creed or race restrictions exist to preclude membership of any Rotary club.

All members are or were employed in a vocation which would see them as self employed or in a decision making position within their employment. Rotary meetings are generally held weekly, usually over a meal when members have the opportunity to enjoy each others' company in a social and pleasant atmosphere. Membership is normally effected through a club member but we welcome enquiries. Our membership subscription this year is £95.00.

If you are not a Rotarian, but are interested in us in any way then this site will, we hope, also give you the information about us, about Rotary International and about what we do and who we are. In our pages we aim to provide information of interest to many folk and to help you find just what you are looking for.
