Welcome to our websiteFrom
our President Alan Katz
July 1st is the beginning
of a new Rotary Year throughout the world. This day sees all the Rotary
Club Presidents
taking over from their predecessors and all other club officers starting
the new year with them.
Our new President is Alan Katz and all our members
wish him a happy and successful year in office.
Manchester born Alan and Susan have
a long association with Windermere and have lived here since 1990. A retired
accountant, Alan is a keen supporter of events like our golf AM AM, Airshow,
Windermere Walks, and Youth Concerts that fit with his themes of supporting
youth and promoting health. These are all fun events where Rotarians happily
give our time and experience also to raise substantial funds. “Not at all our only
priority, fund raising does help promote well being and relieve suffering
through many local and international charities that we support. Most Rotarians
also give their time directly. This may be to support our youth, our elderly,
the sick and disadvantaged, be that individually, through Club activities,
and by helping other organisations in these objectives”.
“ We all enjoy the many aspects of Rotary in different ways. We may give as much or as little time as we wish and can spare to service. The common thread is that we all greatly enjoy each others’ company around our weekly dinner meetings and many social events, we get to know each other really well and that is the foundation for also enjoying working closely together for service to others”.

Alan has taken over the reins from our President for 2008/2009, Rob McGraw and we know that we are all looking forward to a year of renewed activity on many fronts. Alan is the Chairman of our soon to be with us WINDERMERE AIRSHOW and he and his committee have been very hard at work for many months putting together a programme of flying and ground displays which will give everybody who comes to Bowness on 25th and 26th of this month a wonderful weekend.

Yes, it's a fact - the RED ARROWS will be at WINDERMERE AIRSHOW 2009 on Sunday July 26th. More details are on our new AIRSHOW WEBSITE. Not only that but you will be delighted to hear that the only airworthy VULCAN BOMBER will be joining the RED ARROWS to make this, courtesy of the Windermere Hydro, the most entertaining and exciting weekend in the Windermere Summer calendar even more amazing than you ever thought possible! The weekend will be full of thrills and it is also a very cultural event, bringing history to life as you relive the days of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft and the incredible sight and sound of the Vulcan - tell your children about your memories!

But what is Rotary and who are Rotarians?
Rotary International is a world wide organisation of clubs whose members are
all of like mind in their desire to serve their fellow human beings and to do
all they can to relieve some of the problems which people have throughout the
world. Rotarians are the members of Rotary clubs - they are male or female, no
age, colour, creed or race restrictions exist to preclude membership of any Rotary
club.
All members are or were employed in a vocation which would see them as self employed
or in a decision making position within their employment. Rotary meetings are
generally held weekly, usually over a meal when members have the opportunity
to enjoy each others' company in a social and pleasant atmosphere. Membership
is normally effected through a club member but we welcome enquiries. Our membership
subscription this year is £95.00.
If you are not a Rotarian, but are interested in us in any way then this site will, we hope, also give you the information about us, about Rotary International and about what we do and who we are. In our pages we aim to provide information of interest to many folk and to help you find just what you are looking for.
So, please use the links in the column at the left to take you to what
interests you most.
