Shelterbox delivery  Shelterboxes     Polio victims

Our main projects this year are to be:
.

We have supported Shelterboxes for several years now and will continue to do so. One shelterbox now costs £500 and we intend to purchase two.

A shelterbox contains all the necessities including a tent to enable ten people to live in basic conditions in a situation where an emergency suddenly arises. The box is purchased in advance, held in readiness and then dispatched to the needy area immediately. We are always informed as to where our box has been sent.

Rotary continues with its aim to rid the world of poliomyelitis within the next year  and we shall help to support that aim through our Annual Giving to the Rotary Foundation.

The committee will take up the request to provide Aquafilters and Mosquito Nets to areas of countries which are greatly affected by a great shortage of clean water and affected by malaria. £1500 is budgeted to provide these. Global Warming will be a feature of the committee's remit for the year.

The charities Water Aid and Hope and Homes for Children will be supported financially and we hope to have speakers to update and tell us more about the progress of their operations and successes.

For many years we have been strong supporters of SightSavers and we shall continue our donations to them also. In addition we shall be collecting spectacles which can be refurbished and sent to needy areas in the world.

We also hope to raise funds in order to make a donation to Red Cross International.
