Many people ask what Rotarians do. The answer
is never very simple because all the different Rotary clubs and their members
do different things at different times.
Above all though, you may be sure that they enjoy what they do and they
have fun doing it.
All Rotary clubs have committees which arrange the events and social happenings
which may or may not be related to raising funds for particular charities.
Generally speaking there are four committees which you will find in all
clubs and our club has all four. Each has a separate page which you can
visit by clicking on the committee link at the left.
It may surprise you to see what our club is proposing to do in this new
Rotary Year which started on 1st July. For your information and inspiration
these are our intentions:
To support these charities:
The Rotary Foundation, SightSavers,
Shelterboxes, Jubilee Sailing Trust,
Hope and Homes for Children, Water Aid, Life
Education Cumbria, Aquafilters, Mosquito Nets, Manacare, Alzheimers
Society, Great North Air Ambulance, Wheelchair appeal
To organise these fund raising events:
The Golf AM/AM, Windermere
AIRSHOW 2008, Carols Evening, Trolley Dash, Charity sponsored walk, Foundation Cruise, Wine Tasting Evening, Gardeners
Question Time, Orchestral Concert,
To involve young people in:
Youth Speaks, Young Writer, Rotary
Youth Leader Award, Rotary Youth Technology Tournament
And for our members fun and enjoyment:
Our Annual Charter
Anniversary Evening, Millennium Trophy Competition, Grey Games, Bowls
against local clubs, Golf and snooker competitions, District
and National Conferences and of course, our regular weekly meetings.
Does that sound
as though we are just old fogies meeting for a meal? Would you like to join us?
You would be very welcome to speak to any member or our Secretary John Newberry on 015394 46864
